Russell James salon opened its doors in April 2015, it has since brought a strong commitment to providing the very best standards of Hairdressing and Barbering to Chalfont St Giles. A family run and owned salon with a highly experienced team, Russell James provides excellence in both hair care and styling.
Derry, Russell James director is also Director of Technical Hair at a national education company. Our team are all Senior State Registered Hairdressers / Barbers and Master Craftsman Status Hairdressers –

Why do we ensure all of our team is state registered?
Hairdressing is an un regulated sector in the UK. This means that anyone can practice hairdressing, yes ANYONE!
State Registration, is an optional registration that can be obtained by only qualified and suitably trained hairdressers and barbers. State Registration is underwritten by Law and an Act of Parliament, under the Hairdressers Registration Act. It provided ‘graded awards’ to Hairdressers and Barbers based on experience and qualification. All team members at Russell James are State Registered and Certified, through the Hairdressing and Barber Council to highlight their level of expertise & experience.

Derry has spent a lifetime in the industry. He went to train alongside a selection of premium salon brands, working as a stylist, barber and colour technician. He fast found his flair for training and started educating hairdressers in 2001. Working in the education of the industry has allowed Derry to travel not only UK wide but internationally. Derry continues to educate alongside working at Russell James, currently Director of Technical Hair Business.
Derry is currently training to become a trichologist, having completed and introduction course early in 2020, he is now working towards the Level 4 Certificate.

Penny has made a career in Hairdressing & Barbering since the early 80s and brings a vast wealth of knowledge to the salon. Pennys' training took place in salon, and she utilises her experience daily. Penny is able to fulfil her guests needs in all aspects of hairdressing, including Ladies cutting / Colouring, Bridal / Prom / Occasion Hair and Texture Control. Penny really is the glue that holds the salon together, she keeps all of the team ‘inline’, heads up the guest services and ensures that everything in the salon is ready to rock and roll for everyone.

Karen is a truly home grown talent, she completed her hairdressing training with us here at Russell James - With a background in Customer Service and Fashion Retail Management, Karen is perfectly suited to ensure every customer receives a smooth service from the moment they enter the salon. Karen passed her advanced hairdressing in 2018 and continues her development with us at Russell James, having worked through the Master Stylist Programme; Karen is now working towards her Master Colourist. . Her previous experience with fashion & trend has put Karen in the perfect position to be focused on whats new and current. Karen is well known for her exemplary guest service standards.
